MagicBase 2.6 is a full working version of MagicBase. It also has an updater built into it.

No matter what version of MagicBase you have, from 2.0 - 2.5, the updater is designed to update your current version. Due the the complexity of the program and the variety of changes that have been programmed over the last 4 years, there are some minor issues that will result. We've identified three issues:

1. Address line 1 doesn't update. The name, city and state show up on the mailing label but not the street address.
Solution: While the solution is as easy as just clicking on the 'Add mail label' button, it will be tedious if you have thousands of names entered.
2. In some cases, while the updater is running, it fails to find a file.
Solution: A warning window will appear that will allow you to point to the missing file. This is described in more detail in the Updater Movie.
3. Either the routines/tricks in your old MagicBase are not transferred to the new one, or they are transferred along with some sample routines that were in 2.6.
Solution: Copy the file MBr from the old MB folder to the new one.

As with any computer program, precautions should be taken to protect your data in case of a problem. Specifically, it is recommended that you duplicate your entire MB folder and save it to a safe location before running the updater.
