Known Issues        Report a bug..
There are a few minor glitches that we're aware of and working on. But none of these will prevent you from using the program, and there are work-arounds for all of them. So you can use the program, then when a patch is ready, you can easily update and maintain all of your customer records with 100% accuracy. ( There is a ReadMe file in the root folder of MBP that describes all changes and additions.)     See Repair History...

Issues with Vista and Windows 7:
The User Account Settings (the new "security" feature in Windows) is causing problems with MagicBase Pro.
You may have to right click, and select "Run as Administrator" in order to use MagicBase Pro. If you ever get an error message that says "This file is unmodifiable" then you will have to run it as an administrator. (You will be required to start MBP this way each time)

Or, you could just change the security properties for MBP. (Right click and select 'Properties'. Under the Compatibility tab select 'Run this as Administrator'.

Or, another solution is to simply turn off the User Account Control completely.

 

• With Windows 7, and Vista, occassionally, when doing an export, the data files are transferred by the operating system, to a different location.
  Fix: If you do an export, and the Exports folder is empty, then do a search on your system for files with .fp7 suffix. There will be 11 of them.
One user reported that the exported files were re-directed to this path:
     c:\users\[user name]\AppData\Local\virtualstore\programsfiles(x86)\magicbasepro_3.0.5\exports

Issues with Version 3.0.6   FIXES AND FEATURES in 3.0.6
FIXED in version 3.0.8 • Occassionally, the wrong customer will be selected/listed on the Reports Screen (it gets stuck on a customer).
   Fix: Click back to the Customers Screen Form View and click back to the Reports Screen. OR if that doesn't work:
   Switch to the Event Screen and select the Event you want to access, then click on the 'Instant Contract' button.
  When the contract print box appears, just cancel it. Now the correct event will appear on the Reports Screen.
FIXED • Occassionally, your Serial # for an update may be rejected. Please email Tech Support for a new serial #. (This is not
   to be confused with the Authorization Code.) FIXED. It is in update 3.0.7.
FIXED • Exporting just Names and Addresses for a mailing service will create a 'Tab-Delimited' file, not a .CSV file as the
  program indicates. But this format is still usable with mailing services. FIXED. It will now export separate fields in a .csv file.
   It is in update 3.0.7.


  Issues with Version 3.0.5   FIXES AND FEATURES in 3.0.5
    • In some rare cases the Current Action Set lists nothing even though an action set has been created. If the CAS is zero,
  then no reports will appear. Fix: Select Form View of the Customers Screen and click the forward arrow a couple of times.
  Then the correct count will appear on the CAS, and the reports will appear.
   • Occassionally, the wrong customer will be selected/listed on the Reports Screen (it gets stuck on a customer).
   Fix: Click back to the Customers Screen Form View and click back to the Reports Screen.
   FIXED • The customized drop-down menu for Customer Types will not be transferred with an update. But the data that is
   displayed in the field will be transferred in the update. This is FIXED for all future updates.


  Issues with Version 3.0.4   
  • When you click on the Reports tab, and then click on the 'List' button, sometimes the wrong current customer is selected.
    Fix: Just click on the Reports tab twice to cycle through to the List view again and the correct customer will be selected.  
  FIXED • The first time that you try to print a show plan, the wrong screen is selected. But, when you click print again, then the
     correct plan will print.
  FIXED • Envelope preview, in some cases, displays the incorrect customer, but it will print the correct one.
  • Monetary merge fields on FlexContract don't show 2 decimal places if the last digit is a zero.
    $300.00 looks like $300 , $22.50 looks like $22.5
    Work-around: Add a zero in the FlexContract 1 space after the >> brackets of the merge field.
    Make sure it's not touching or the merge field won't print.
  FIXED. It is in update 3.0.5. • Can only record one Post-Show note / Customer.
 
  Issues with Version 3.0.3

FIXED • If you have more than 1 show planned for an event, then printing the show plan using the 'Print Show' button will result
   in the show plans being merged together when printed. - FIXED. It is in update 3.0.4.
  Work-around: Print the first show plan before creating additional plans.
   Then, for the additional show plans, use the Print page button under the 'File' menu. This will print a screen image.
   (Be sure to select 'Print Current Record' from the 'Filemaker Pro' selector on the Print window.)
FIXED • When you first switch to FlexLetter3, the 'Edit' button doesn't work. FIXED. It is in update 3.0.4.
   Fix: Just click on the 'Restore Default' button, then the 'Edit' button will work.
• Envelope preview, in some cases, displays the incorrect customer, but it will print the correct one. FIXED.
FIXED • Label printing is out of line. - FIXED- It is in the update 3.0.4.
FIXED • Customer Type, List 1 and List 2 fields on Customers screen are not usable. - FIXED. It is in update 3.0.4.
  Work-around: Use the Customer Notes field to record customer type, for now.
FIXED • In some cases, you may not be able to select an event from the FlexContract selector. - FIXED. It is in update 3.0.4.
   Work-around: Select the desired event on the Event screen, then go directly to the FlexContract and print it, (without clicking
   on any buttons to adjust the contract.) Or, in some cases, deleting the event and re-creating it will solve this issue.
• Customer Card: If a customer has more than 1 event, you can't directly print the 2nd event on the Customer card.
  Work-around: you can print a CC for all of the events, then just delete the uneeded ones from the print queue.
FIXED • Can't print a show plan. Will be fixed on next update by 7/30/08. -FIXED. But you must have your page setup set to Letter
   size before you try to print a show plan.

    Issues with version 3.0.2
• Updater/Importer issue in version 3.0.1. and 3.0.2 may cause an 'ID error' to appear. This has been fixed in 3.0.3. But, until
   that update is available (Mac version is online. Windows coming soon), it is recommended that you don't do any imports.
FIXED • Can't change newsletter sample names from 'Newsletter' drop-down menu. FIXED IN V.3.0.3
    Work-around: Use the Marketing Screen to enter newsletter name as a Campaign, then select the name, as usual,
    from the menu on Customers Screen from the Campaigns menu. Will be fixed on next update (3.0.3) by 8/15/08.
• On some older versions of Windows XP Home Edition, the Register button closes down the program.
   The Demo works fine, so this is only an issue if you intend to purchase it.
   Solution: Contact MBP HQ for the latest version or get the latest upgrades to your XP OS.
